Parramatta lift Sevens crown

Keith Senior finished as the joint top try-scorer
Parramatta thrashed England 42-18 to lift the rugby league World Sevens title in Sydney on Sunday.

Luke Burt, Steve Witt, Nathan Hindmarsh, John Morris and Dean Widders crossed for tries before half-time for the Eels, while England's only try came via Keith Senior.

Witt, Burt and Hindmarsh all scored again in the second half.

Richard Horne and Senior - who finished with eight tries to be the tournament's joint leading try-scorer - crossed for the English in the second half.

Parramatta reached the final thanks to a 22-14 quarter-final win over Canberra, followed by a 30-18 defeat of South Sydney.

England advanced with a 22-14 win over Manly, having beaten France 30-10 in the quarter-finals.

In the Plate final, the Canterbury Bulldogs beat the New Zealand Warriors 24-18.

And North Queensland won the Bowl competition with an 18-8 win over Fiji.
