Rovers chief in upbeat mood
Featherstone Rovers
Featherstone have been hit by financial problems
Featherstone chairman Glyn Robinson insists the club will not fold despite going into administration.

The National League One club admitted on Thursday they owe the Inland Revenue 97,000, but Robinson remains upbeat about the future.

This is a temporary distraction
Glyn Robinson

"We have an investor lined up who wants to put money into the club to create a successful business." he said.

"In order for him to do that, we need to discharge all claims against the club.

"Once these issues are finalised, we will be far stronger than before.

"There is no way the club will fold, disappear or go backwards from this."

Robinson said the club had reduced its debt from over 1m in 1997 to 403,000 and expect to break even this year despite a drop in gate revenue of almost 20%.

Featherstone are now working with insolvency expert Peter O'Hara, who is also managing the financial affairs of Super League clubs Wakefield and Halifax.
