19 mins: A dashing break from Hodgson launches NSW onto the offensive, but they lose the ball near the Quuensland line.

18 mins: Gidley's tackle on Petero Civoniceva prevents Queensland from scoring a second try.

13 mins: The Maroons build up some momentum for the first time, and hit back with a try from wing Lote Tuqiri, who holds off Johns' tackle to score in the left corner after Darren Smith's initial surge to the line. Clinton Schifcofske pulls the conversion wide.

10 mins: Queensland prop Shane Webcke snuffs out a possible second Blues try as he intercepts Trent Barrett's pass metres from the line.

5 mins: The Blues capitalise on their early pressure with a try from Matthew Gidley in the right corner. The elusive Hodgson is held up short, but Gidley exploits a two-man overlap on the next play. Andrew Johns converts from the touchline.
