Sheffield Eagles 34-12 Leigh East

Sheffield Eagles were made to work hard by a determined Leigh East amateur side before easing into the fourth round of the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Challenge Cup.

The National Conference Premier League side were inspired by man-of-the-match John Gunning, the former Leigh and Swindon stand-off.

But the Eagles, shock winners of the competition in 1997, took the lead through Darren Callaghan.

Alhough the visitors battled back gamely, Wayne Flynn restored the Eagles' lead.

Further tries from Richard Goddard, Andy Pointer, Scott Rhodes and Craig Brown ensured a comfortable home win.
