Barnett leads London fight
Barnett only joined Broncos last season
New Zealand legend Richie Barnett says fan power can play a major role in keeping the London Broncos alive.
The Super League outfit are battling for survival after it emerged that main backers Virgin are considering pulling the plug. But Barnett says rugby league needs to exist in the south of the country and wants supporters to turn out in force for Saturday's final home game of the season against Halifax.
"Whilst only new to the club this year, the fans have made my own family feel so very welcome, and we are looking forward to many more good times ahead," said the star full-back, who is halfway through a two-year contract. "But like all professional sport, our club has a business to run - and for that business to be successful, we need our fans to vote with their feet each and every match day." He added: "All of us have our own reasons for wanting London rugby league to survive. "For me personally, it's because I made such a big decision in coming here - and there are many who have been fighting this battle for some 20 years."
