Australian magic: Brett Dallas stars for Wigan
Wigan 28-12 Warrington

Wigan outclassed Warrington on Friday to keep the heat turned up on leaders Bradford at the top of Super League.

Andy Farrell dominated for the Warriors as the home team capitalised on Warrington errors to end the Wolves' three-match win streak.

In a bad-tempered game, three players received yellow cards, while Wigan forward Harvey Howard was put on report by referee Steve Ganson.

The visitors began strongly and were worthy of a Lee Briers penalty scored after just two minutes.

If that's the way they are going to play, the game is going backwards - I'm glad we beat them.

But Wigan weathered the storm and hit back with a brace of tries scored in five minutes.

A 50-metre penalty by Farrell found touch and from the restart Brett Dallas, Wigan's Australian winger, swooped to score the opening try of the match.

Moments later, Wigan added a second try following another defensive lapse.

Farrell was again in the thick of the action, feeding Paul Johnson, who powered over.

To their credit Warrington - who played throughout with plenty of spirit - pulled a try back just before half-time, Paul Noone sliding over.

Tempers fray

But Wigan flexed their muscles early in the second half.

A horrendous knock-on by Warrington prop-forward Danny Nutley allowed Dallas to finish strongly following the scrum.

Later in the half, tempers frayed on both sides.

Howard was sin-binned following a skirmish, before another dust-up saw Warrington's Dave Whittle and Wigan's Terry Newton get yellow cards.

The final action saw Warrington grab a late consolation try through New Zealand forward Tawera Nikau but it proved too little, too late.
