Costin savages Wolves
![]() Costin single-handedly beat Warrington
Huddersfield 52-10 Warrington
Huddersfield overwhelmed Warrington to earn their first home win of the season. Stand-off Brandon Costin scored two tries and eight goals. Two months ago Costin was vilified for a late tackle on St Helens star Sean Long which ended the Great Britain scrum-half's season. But since returning from a three-match suspension, the reformed Costin has spearheaded the Giants' mid-season revival. Costin's five tries in three games and a last-ditch equalising kick against London helped the Giants to record two wins and a draw to give them real hope of avoiding the drop. Shell-shocked The home side ran in eight tries to two to blow away Warrington who were on the end of their second thrashing in two games following last week's humiliation at the hands of world champions St Helens. It took just three minutes for Dave Atkins to score the first try of the match after full back Paul Reilly had sliced through the Wolves' defence. At half-time they were leading a shell-shocked Wolves 20-0. Huddersfield picked up where they left off after the break with two more tries in the opening 14 minutes from Ben Kusto and Costin before Wolves finally gained a foothold with a 56th minute score from full back Alan Hunte. Costin added a 61st-minute penalty before setting up Chris Langley for a try with another precision chip before being substituted after 64 minutes to a standing ovation. Substitute Martin Masella grabbed the consolation try for the visitors before Huddersfield passed the 50-point barrier with further touchdowns from Troy Stone and Frew.
