Raper linked with Leeds
Dean Lance
Lance was sacked after defeat by Hull FC
Castleford's Stuart Raper and Hull's Shaun McRae have been linked with the vacant head coach's job at Leeds Rhinos.

The Rhinos parted company with Dean Lance on Sunday just 48 hours after their Headingley defeat by Hull FC.

Raper, whose Castleford contrract ends after the current campaign, has also applied for the head coach job at Australian club Cronulla.

But Chris Anderson, coach of Australia's national team, is likely to get that job.

Speaking on BBC North's Super League show, The Guardian's Andy Wilson said he expected Leeds to appoint a temporary coach until the end of this season before appointing a full-time replacement.

McRae has recently signed a new deal at the Boulevard but has many fans at Leeds after steering St Helens to the Super League title in 1996.

With Hull currently second in Super League and a new 25,000 all-seater stadium on the way, McRae may not want to leave.

The Super League Show is broadcast every Sunday at 1115 BST on BBC2 in the north of England.
