Halifax cruise past Huddersfield

Halifax Blue Sox star Martin Moana grabbed two tries as his side cruised to a comfortable derby win over Huddersfield.

Moana ran in his first in the 15th minute when he shrugged off three tackles and then rounded Paul Reilly to cross the try-line.

Then after the break he barged his way through to virtually kill off the contest.

The Blue Sox had opened their account through Shane McMenemy, who collected Andrew Dunemann's short punt to go over in the corner.

In between Steve McNamara had picked his spot between the posts to convert a penalty, which had been awarded for offside.

The Giants closed the gap to six points when Brandon Costin finished off a sweeping move in the 18th minute.

Kusto blow

But just before the break, Damian Gibson collected a looping pass from Dunemann and crossed for his side's third try of the game.

Bloem added the conversion to give the visitors a comfortable lead.

Jim Gannon converted after the break when he bundled his way over the line.

Then with the scores at 6-22, the home side suffered a massive blow.

Influential scrum-half Ben Kusto was injured in a collision and was forced off the pitch.

And Moana then struck to give the Giants virtually no hope of clawing their way back.

A well-worked try was finished off by Chris Thorman who sold a dummy on the right to go over as the Giants had one last fling.

But right at the death Adam Hughes intercepted a McNamara pass deep inside the Giants' half to race 50 yards to the line and round off the scoring.
