Twin Towers demolition begins
A digger removes a wall at Wembley, beginning a demolition process that is expected to last six months
The famous twin towers will make way for a 'triumphant arch', which helps operate a mobile roof
For the next four years, the songs and shouts of sports fans will be replaced by the sound of heavy machinery
Wembley will be a building site until it re-opens for the 2006 FA Cup Final as an all new 90,000-seater venue
On the morning of the demolition only the twin towers stand alone among the ruins of Wembley stadium
John Bull (real name Ray Egan) stages a protest below the towers and holds up a replica Jules Rimes trophy
The machines move in to remove the final pieces of Wembley - the historic landmark twin towers
