Little Britain star David Walliams is attempting to swim across the English Channel to raise money for Sport Relief

More people have climbed Everest than have swum the stretch of water that separates Britain and France

Walliams, 34, has been putting in hours and hours of training for his incredible attempt aided by his coach Greg Whyte

David is one step nearer to his goal after completing a gruelling eight hour qualifying swim in Croatia

David had to complete the eight-hour swim in Croatia before the Channel Swimming Association would let him try to cross the 21-mile English Channel
