Snowboard cross, or boardercross, made its Olympic debut in Turin four years ago, but the women's final has already found itself in Winter Olympic folklore - thanks to Lindsey Jacobellis.
The American seemingly had victory wrapped up as she had a huge lead heading to the final jump but she lost her balance while showboating and fell, allowing Switzerland's Tanja Frieden to sneak through and claim gold.
At first sight, the event is reminiscent of the Wacky Races, but competitors are not allowed to push or bump each other out of the way.
The race format is similar to BMX, with riders tackling a course studded with jumps, bumps and huge turns as they battle to reach the finish first.
