Chamonix falls victim to weather

Poor snowfall has affected resorts across Europe
The men's World Cup races scheduled for Chamonix on 20 and 21 January have been called off because of warm weather.

The French resort was due to host a downhill and a super-combined event but the races have become the latest to be abandoned due to the conditions.

Unusually warm weather across Europe has disrupted the World Cup season, with many races moved or cancelled.

"Forecasts only give snowfalls of no more than 5cm by Friday, which is insufficient," said a course official.
