Sweden came from 1-0 down against Finland
Sweden's Nicklas Lidstrom scored the decisive goal as they beat Finland 3-2 to claim the Olympic ice hockey gold medal in Turin.

Finland's Ville Peltonen had levelled at 2-2 after his side took an early lead before Sweden hit back twice in the second period.

Earlier, Italy's Giorgio di Centa won the men's 50km cross-country title from Eugeni Dementiev of Russia.

The Games end with the closing ceremony at the Stadio Olympico (1900 GMT).

DAY 16 EVENTS

CROSS-COUNTRY

Italy's Giorgio di Centa won the men's 50km cross-country title from Eugeni Dementiev of Russia and Austria's Mihail Botwinov.

The margin of victory of 0.8 seconds was the narrowest in this event in the history of the Olympics.

Di Centa, brother of former Olympic champion Manuela Di Centa, is the first athlete from outside Scandinavia or the former Soviet Union to win this event at the Games.

His medal brought the hosts' tally to five golds and six bronzes for the Games, leaving them in ninth place in the medal table.

ICE HOCKEY

Sweden came from behind to beat Finland 3-2 to claim the Olympic ice hockey gold medal in Turin

A Nicklas Lidstrom goal early in the third period broke the deadlock after Finn Ville Peltonen levelled at 2-2.

Finland took the lead through Kimmo Timonen in the 15th minute of the first period but Sweden hit back with second-period goals from Niklas Kronwall and Henrik Zetterberg.

Sweden last won the Olympics in their last final in Lillehammer in 1994.

The Finns set up the meeting after a 4-0 semi-final win over Russia while the Swedes defeated the Czech Republic.

CLOSING CEREMONY

More than 2,000 dancers, acrobats and clowns will take centre stage for the closing ceremony which will bring the curtain down on the Games. (1900 GMT)

Among the musical stars at the Stadio Olympico will be opera singer Andrea Bocelli and rock singers Ricky Martin and Avril Lavigne.

The traditional Italian carnival and circus are the themes for the night.

The Olympic flag will be handed over to representatives of Vancouver, who will host the next Games in 2010.
