Skeleton bob World Cup champion Noelle Pikus-Pace has been injured in an accident at Calgary Olympic Park.
Pikus-Pace was among the favourites for gold in Turin
The 22-year-old American suffered a compound fracture in her lower left leg when she was hit by a US four-man bobsled team in the out-run area.
Pikus-Pace became the first American woman to win the overall World Cup title at Lake Placid in February.
She also won silver at the World Championships. Her injury could jeopardise her 2006 Olympic hopes.
