Miami star Shaquille O'Neal says his thigh injury has not improved and he may not be ready for next week's start of the NBA Eastern Conference finals.
"It's not that it got worse," he told The Miami Herald. "It's just that it's there, and I need it not to be there."
O'Neal said he would "hopefully" be ready for next week's opener but added he could not say for certain.
The All-Star centre injured his right leg in a collision with Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal on 17 April.
O'Neal visited the Miami Dolphins' training facility on Tuesday in an attempt to learn more about the injury and how to treat it more effectively.
"They were showing me what to do to strengthen that area," O'Neal said. "This is a common football injury."
