Jeromy Burnitz hit the decisive homer in the seventh innings to lead Maddux's Chicago Cubs to a 3-2 win at Houston.
It was Maddux's 306th victory and he lasted six innings, conceding two runs and seven hits with three strikeouts.
Unlucky Clemens pitched seven strong innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out five, while even going two-for-two with the bat.
