The A's came up short under Macha this season

Ken Macha has been released as manager of the Oakland Athletics after failing to agree terms on a new contract.
The move allows Macha, with a 275-211 record in three seasons, to seek another managerial post.
He led the A's to the 2003 American League West crown in his first season but Oakland missed the play-offs in both of the past two campaigns.
Oakland general manager Billy Beane said: "We were unable to agree on a contract extension."
This season, the A's finished second behind the Los Angeles Angels in the AL West with an 88-74 record.
Macha, 55, had been an assistant coach who was named manager when Art Howe departed after the 2002 season to manage the New York Mets.
