Sidney Crosby, the top pick in this year's NHL draft, signed officially with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.
The three-year deal will pay the 18-year-old Crosby £460,000 a season, the maximum allowed under the league's new collective bargaining agreement.
Crosby said: "It's nice to have that out of the way. I am looking forward to getting on the ice every day."
Crosby, the new wonder-kid of ice hockey, has been likened to Penguins great and part-owner Mario Lemieux.
