Ottawa ruin Bure's return
The Ottawa Senators edged past the New York Rangers 3-2 to spoil Pavel Bure's comeback from injury. Bure had an assist in his first appearance after missing 31 games following knee surgery. But Ottawa net-minder Patrick Lalime made 26 saves to condemn the Rangers to their second defeat in a row. Radek Bonk, Mike Fisher and Martin Havlat scored the goals for Ottawa, while Daniel Alfredsson had three assists. Alexei Kovalev - with his 30th of the season - and Eric Lindros scored for the Rangers. The win enabled Ottawa to move ahead of Dallas at the top of the overall NHL standings. The Rangers, meanwhile, are still six points off the final play-off spot in the Eastern Conference. Elsewhere, Patrik Stefan scored at 3:54 of overtime on a power play to give the Atlanta Thrashers a 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres. Dany Heatley had a goal and an assist for the Thrashers, who ended their four-game winless streak. Dan Snyder and Slava Kozlov scored the other Atlanta goals while JP Dumont, Tim Connolly and Curtis Brown were on target for the Sabres.
Monday's results
Atlanta 4-3 Buffalo (OT)
