Naslund makes his mark
Vancouver Canucks' Markus Naslund
Naslund was the star of the show for the Canucks

Markus Naslund scored four goals for the Vancouver Canucks as they hammered the Edmonton Oilers 6-3.

The win moves Vancouver into top spot in the Northwest Division, one point ahead of the Minnesota Wild.

The Wild suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat against the Nashville Predators, who had only won seven matches all season.

Naslund's four goals helped him become the ninth Vancouver player to score four goals in a game and the first since Martin Gelinas in February 1997.

The Canucks hit four goals in less than seven minutes in the second period with Todd Bertuzzi and Daniel Sedin claiming the other strikes.

The Montreal Canadiens Richard Zednik

The Boston Bruins' bad run of form continued when they lost 4-2 to the Montreal Canadiens.

Richard Zednik had a goal and an assist for the Canadiens while Chad Kilger, Craig Rivet and Yanic Perreault scored the other goals and Jose Theodore made 25 saves.

Ivan Huml and Marty Mcinnis replied for the Bruins.

It was the third defeat in a row for the Bruins, who still lead the Eastern Conference, and their second in four nights against the Canadiens, who knocked them out of last year's playoffs.

Saturday's NHL results:

Philadelphia 2-0 Buffalo
Montreal 4-2 Boston
Ottawa 4-3 New Jersey (OT)
Nashville 3-1 Minnesota
Detroit 6-4 Columbus
St Louis 4-0 Atlanta
Toronto 4-1 NY Rangers
Tampa Bay 4-3 NY Islanders
San Jose 2-0 Washington
Los Angeles 3-2 Pittsburgh (OT)
Calgary 1-3 Colorado
