Longhorns hammer Aggies
Cory Redding tackles Texas A&M running back Derek Farmer
Texas harried the Aggies into submission
Chris Simms threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns as Texas beat Texas A&M 50-20 - their third straight win over the Aggies.

The Longhorns (10-2, 6-2 Big 12) turned a 23-14 third-quarter lead into a pounding, increasing speculation that Aggies coach RC Slocum will be fired.

Simms is the first Texas quarterback to lead the Longhorns to three straight wins over A&M since Bobby Layne won four straight against them in the 1940s.

Roy Williams caught touchdown passes of 75 and 38 yards from Simms, and finished with 149 yards in total.

In other games, Oklahoma were knocked out of the national championship chase with a surprising 38-28 loss to Oklahoma State.

But the top-ranked Miami Hurricanes (11-0) moved a step closer to a national title game with a 49-7 win over the Syracuse Orangemen.

Hurricanes coach Larry Coker improved his record to an impressive 23-0.

"This was a huge win for us today," he said. "We have one more against a very tough Virginia Tech"

Arkansas grabbed a last-gasp triumph against LSU, winning 21-20 in Little Rock.

Matt Jones threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to DeCori Birmingham with nine seconds left, and David Carlton kicked the extra point to give Arkansas a dramatic victory.

Freshman Brian Calhoun ran for 137 yards as Colorado beat Nebraska 28-13 - their first win in Lincoln since 1990.
