Ravens see off Dolphins
Elvis Grbac in action for Baltimore

The Baltimore Ravens continued their defensive dominance with a 20-3 victory over the Miami Dolphins in the AFC wild card play-offs.

The defending Super Bowl champions restricted the Dolphins to one 33-yard field goal from Olindo Mare after a fumble from Jermaine Lewis.

But the Ravens' offensive line soon took over as Terry Allen scored the first touchdown of the day after an impressive 90-yard drive.

The third quarter saw Travis Taylor bundle in a four-yard score as the Ravens closed in on victory.

Quarterback Elvis Grbac completed 12 out of 18 passes for 122 yards, including one touchdown.

The Ravens will now travel to Pittsburgh to meet the Steelers in the AFC match next Sunday.

Brett Favre in action for Green Bay
Brett Favre was in fine form for Green Bay

The defeat was the fifth successive year the Miami Dolphins have lost in the opening round of the play-offs.

Brett Favre inspired the Green Bay Packers to a 25-15 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC wildcard match at Lambeau Field.

The quarterback engineered four scoring drives in the second half, completing 16 out of 21 passes for 226 yards and throwing two touchdown passes for Antonio Freeman and Bubba Franks.

A Tai Street touchdown had levelled the scores at 15-15, but good work from Favre set up a 45-yard field goal for Ryan Longwell to regain the lead for the Packers.

And Ahman Green wrapped up proceedings with a superb 93-yard touchdown drive orchestrated by Favre.

The Packers will now meet the St Louis Rams in the divisional play-off next Sunday.
