Irish appoint Willingham
Stanford coach Tyrone Willingham
Stanford's coach could be heading to Notre Dame
Tyrone Willingham has become the third football head coach at Notre Dame in less than a month.

The Stanford coach is the first black head coach of any sport at the Indiana university and has agreed to a six-year deal, thought to be worth at least $2m.

He replaces Georgia Tech coach George O'Leary, who resigned five days after taking the job after admitting his CV contained inaccuracies.

O'Leary had only arrived after Bob Davie was fired on 2 December as the Fighting Irish struggled with a 5-6 record.

The Santa Barbara News-Press newspaper has revealed that Willingham went to Notre Dame on Monday for talks.
