Jenkins has enjoyed a consistent season

Britain's Helen Jenkins moved to fourth in the race for the world title after a fourth-placed finish at the sixth round of the series in Kitzbuhel. Jenkins, from Bridgend, could take her second world crown if she finishes four places ahead of her rivals at the grand final in Budapest on 12 September. Canada's Paula Findlay crossed the line first in Austria, ahead of Swede Lisa Norden and New Zealand's Andrea Hewitt. "It was another solid performance from Helen," said GB coach Joel Filliol. "It's been a consistent season for her, having been close to, or on the podium in every event since Madrid. The focus for the whole squad now shifts to the grand final." Jenkins won the world title, racing under her maiden name Tucker, when it was a one-off event in 2008. The World Championship Series format was introduced the following year. Jenkins now has 2,432 points, just eight fewer that third-placed Norden, with Hewitt on 2,644 and Australia's Emma Moffett leading the way on 2,696. Double points are on offer in Budapest, with 1,200 for the winner, so Jenkins would win the title if she were to beat Moffett by at least four positions, Hewitt by three and Norden by one. In Kitzbuhel, Jenkins started the 10km run - the final event - in a pack of five but fell off the pace as Findlay pushed on with just under 5km to go. "I surprised myself by being able to sprint like that, but I didn't look back like I did in London," said Findlay, after her second win in a row. "This gives me more confidence, Budapest is going to be the race of the season." Britain's Vicky Holland finished 13th after swimming and riding with the lead group, while Jodie Stimpson had to quit after a mechanical problem on the bike. Vanessa Raw (26th), Kerry Lang (28th) and Hollie Avil (40th) were Britain's other finishers.
