Swimmer Joanne Jackson getting back to top form

Richmond's Joanne Jackson has already competed at two Olympics

Olympic bronze medallist Joanne Jackson is getting back to full health after asthma problems affected her form.

Jackson, from Richmond in North Yorkshire, struggled last year because of problems with her breathing.

"Things are really good at the moment, which is exciting for me to say, because I haven't been able to for a long time," she told Radio York.

"I've had a tough couple of years but this year it didn't start off great but I am getting back to where I was."

She added: "I'm really looking forward to the next time I compete."

After finishing in third place behind winner Rebecca Adlington in Beijing in 2008 in the 400m freestyle, Jackson is again aiming to be placed in 13 months' time.

"The trials next year are probably more scary than the actual Olympics," she commented.

"Hopefully we can all get through the trials and get to the Olympics and all have a really good meet there.

"It's the most exciting time for sport as a whole to have a home Olympics.

"It doesn't obviously happen very often so we're all pretty excited. We can't all believe how quickly it's actually come round."
