Cornwall's Cassie Patten said she is delighted with her 1500m bronze medal in the British Swimming championships.

The 24-year-old was just edged out of second place by rising star Eleanor Faulkner, with Keri-Anne Payne well clear of both in first.

Patten told BBC Sport: "It was a really good race and it was a massive personal best, a 15 second PB, which was good.

"Ellie was amazing, although how can it come down to 0.1-0.2 seconds? It's just putting your head down and swimming."

Patten recorded a time of 16:15.33 in the event with Faulkner coming home in 16:15.29. Payne finished almost 10 seconds ahead of her rivals, clocking an impressive time of 16:06.67.
