Pavoni competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games
British 400m individual medley champion Roberto Pavoni said he was "quietly confident" ahead of his debut at the European Swimming Championships.
The Shenfield swimmer, 19, will race in the 200m and 400m individual medleys and the 200m fly in Budapest this week.
He heads into the meeting on a high having claimed the British title with a then world-best time for the season.
"I'll try to keep a level head and go there with realistic expectations - but quietly confident," he told BBC Essex.
"I do feel like there's more to come from me and it's quite exciting really.
Everything's starting to come together looking forward to 2012 and these competitions are stepping stones towards that
"It's my first senior international meeting, so I'm really looking forward to going there and putting in some good performances ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
"It's about gaining experience by racing against the top senior swimmers in Europe, which I haven't done before."
The 2009 European Junior 400m individual medley champion hopes his performances in Hungary will set himself up nicely for his senior career.
"Everything's starting to come together looking forward to 2012 and these competitions are stepping stones towards that," he added.
"I'm making all these steps so far, so there's no reason why I can't continue to do that."
