Liam Tancock added a bronze to Great Britain's medal haul on day two of the European Short-Course Championships.
Tancock was elevated to third place in the 50m backstroke after Germany's Marco di Carli was disqualified for a false start in Trieste.
The Briton's time of of 24.06 seconds was just outside the British record of 24.01 he set in the semi-finals.
It was also his second bronze of the meet after helping the 4x50m medley relay team to third place on Thursday.
"That's four British records in 24 hours so I have to be happy," said Tancock, who also won bronze in the event at the World Championships in Montreal.
"I knew there were some big names in the field and it's always good to race against those guys.
"I'm pleased with how I swam considering I haven't shaved or rested and it was nice to find a bit of speed."
Tancock was the only British swimmer to claim a medal on Friday, although Ros Brett finished in fourth in the 50m butterfly in a new British record time of 26.36secs.
Chris Cook was seventh in the 100m breaststroke while Mel Marshall was sixth in the 100m freestyle before returning to help the 4x50m squad to the same position.
Caitlin McClatchey and Kerri-Anne Payne were sixth and seventh respectively in the 800m freestyle.
