Allcock and Corsie win through
Tony Allcock, who will meet Richard Corsie in the final
Tony Allcock will meet Richard Corsie in the final
Veteran campaigners Tony Allcock and Richard Corsie will battle it out for the World Indoor Singles Championship title in Great Yarmouth on Sunday.

In Saturday's semi-finals Allcock ended the reign of defending champion Paul Foster, while Corsie halted the great run of Devon's Ian Bond.

Allcock was the first to secure his final spot when he beat the Troon player 9-3 6-6.

The title-holder led 6-1 after four of the nine ends in the second set, but Allcock picked up a single on the fifth and then reeled off four more singles to tie at 6-6 and wrap up the victory.

"Tony was unbelievable in the opening set," said Foster.

"I knew when I was 6-2 down there was no way back for me - he just wasn't leaving any chances.

"However I should have won the second set. I felt in control of that one."

Corsie hit back after a slow start to beat Bond, who was chasing a third successive ranking title win.

The Scot took the set 9-4 and went 3-1 ahead in the second before Bond came back with six singles to take the set 7-3 and force the match into a tie-break.

However, Corsie picked up singles on the first two ends to complete his 9-4 3-7 2-0 win.

"Ian played two brilliant opening ends to move 4-0 ahead, but then I began to find my touch," said Corsie.
