Holland's Raymond Barneveld beat England's Mervyn King 5-2 to reach the final of the Embassy World Darts.

He will face Welsh star Ritchie Davies in the final.

The world number two was crowned champion in 1998 and 1999, but he has been a frustrated spectator as Ted Hankey, John Walton and Tony David have since held aloft the coveted trophy.

However, Dutchman van Barneveld proved too strong for King - who defeated him 12 months ago - and will face Wales' Ritchie Davies in Sunday's showpiece final at the Lakeside Country Club.

King complained afterwards that the air conditioning in the arena had blighted the flight of his darts.

"I dream for the last two or three months of the title," said Barneveld.

"I want to win it for Holland, but most of all for myself."

Having raced into a 3-0 lead with an excellent exhibition of big-scoring and consistent finishing, Barneveld suffered a blip in the next two sets which allowed King back into the match.

But with the sixth set delicately poised at 2-2, Barneveld played impeccable darts, while King faltered.
