The best game ever

Having watched Colin Monk's 3-2 victory over Tony O'Shea, I must agree with those people who have called it the greatest game of darts ever - brilliant it was.

I think every Embassy tournament has great games but Wednesday's match, bearing in mind it was a second round game, had everything.

It went to a tie-break deciding leg and both men had to attempt a bullseye to throw first and even that was exciting.

And then Monk went out and won - it was a luvvly jubbly game of darts.

I call it a Bobby George game - because it was handsome!

The atmosphere on Wednesday, just like always, was fantastic. It was just nuts!

What I liked about it was when there was a double that needed to be hit, no one in the crowd would dare cough - but when they hit the double the roof came off.

The audience makes the game what it is and they also give you the desire to play well.

Monk was the man in the final set

There have been quite a few upsets so far and I think the reason for that is we only have eight seeds so most of the top players have faced other good players.

Having just eight seeds is not very good in my opinion.

If you had 16 seeds you would have a lot more name players in the tournament still, because seeds would not play each other until the final stages.

It's a shame but that is the rules - although I think a rule change would be good for the game.

It's very awkward to pick a winner this year - I thought Gary Anderson played very good darts against Andy Fordham.

If you think that Andy had a 90-plus average for three darts during that match, it's amazing he's out of the tournament.

But the format changes now - every game is the best of seven sets so it really is a different game.

On another note, I've just finished work on the film 'Dog', where I play a gangster.

It was quite frightening and hard work - I can see now why James Bond gets a girlfriend halfway through his films.
