Set-by-set coverage as Australia's Tony David beats Mervyn King of England in the final of the Embassy World Darts Championship at the Lakeside Country Club, Frimley Green.

Meryvn King 4-6 Tony David
(Best of 11 sets)

  • 4-6: David becomes world champion when he finally seals the match with a double 10 to take the 10th set 3-1. King's form dips again and David takes two legs against the darts to clinch a deserved victory.

  • 4-5: The tension gets to David who misses three shots at his favourite double-top finish for the title. King hits double eight to wrap up another set 3-2 and put the pressure on David.

  • 3-5: David looks on course to take the title with the advantage of throwing first, but finally misses a double top for the match in the fifth leg. King takes full advantage with a double four to win the set 3-2.

  • 2-5: King keeps his hopes alive with a 64 checkout to clinch the seventh set 3-2. All five legs go with the darts and David gets a glimpse of the title, but misses a tough 161 checkout in the decisive leg.

  • 1-5: The break looks to have helped King, who immediately takes a leg against the darts and quickly moves two clear. But in the fourth leg he fails to checkout from 94, and David wraps up the set with double top in the fifth leg.

  • 1-4: David moves further ahead by taking the last set before the interval 3-1. King is struggling desperately to hit his doubles and loses the third leg despite having three shots at double 10.

  • 1-3: David hits another double top at the first attempt to take the fourth set 3-0 and move into a commanding lead. King struggles to stay in touch as David reels off five legs in a row.

  • 1-2: David goes back into the lead with a 106 checkout in the fifth leg after King misses a chance at the bull. King also has seven chances at a double in the fourth leg, but David's better finishing is proving the difference.

  • 1-1: King makes the decisive break when he takes the third leg against the darts after David misses three shots at double 10. The Englishman then clinches the set 3-1 as David fails to hit double top with three darts.

  • 0-1: After a nervous start from both players it is David who takes the opening set 3-2 with an 81 checkout in the fifth leg. King wastes a chance to take the set when he misses a shot at double 20 in the fourth leg.
