By BBC Sport Online's Saj Chowdhury at the Lakeside Country Club

Tony David booked his place in the final of the World Darts Championship after defeating number two seed Martin Adams in an epic contest.

David, who hails from Queensland in Australia, was 4-1 up in the best of nine semi-final, before the England captain mounted an amazing comeback to level the scores.

Adams forced the match into a tie-break, but failed to break the resilient Australian who kept his nerve for fairytale ending.

Adams began the contest brightly taking the first set 3-0.

David finally got his name on the scoreboard when he won the first leg of the second set.

The England captain brought the match back to 2-2 before David, who made a double 10 at the second time of asking, clinched the second set.

The Australian, who won an epic match against Bob Taylor in the last round, found that resilient form once again to take a 2-1 advantage in the third.

Adams fought back again to level at 2-2 - but David scored a double top to take a 3-1 lead in the match.

The world number two began to look jittery, as David made heavy scores to take himself to within a set of the match.

But Adams fought back to take the next three sets with ease. The match was poised at 4-4.

David took a 2-1 lead, but back came Adams with a 180 and an immaculate double.

But just as it appeared as if David's resistance had waned, the Australian came back to take the two legs in the tie-break, finishing with a double top.
