Gloucester's Michael Wasley is hopeful of earning a place on the professional tour for 2011-12.

The 21-year-old is among 124 hopefuls heading to Sheffield for 18 days of competition at Q School from 11 May, with 12 players turning professional.

"I've been working really hard at my attitude towards the game," Wasley told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"Just working hard at the table to give myself the best possible opportunity of realising my dream of becoming a pro."

Wasley faces Lucky Vatnani in his opening match of the first event at the Q School where three tournaments will run consecutively.

The four semi-finalists from each of the three events will make up the dozen who will turn professional, but Wasley is determined go all out for success in the first event: "My aim is to do it in the first tournament so I don't have to spend the other two weeks there.

"If that doesn't happen I'll take it from there and try and approach the next two tournaments with more practice and more belief."
