Contrite O'Sullivan handed fine

Ronnie O'Sullivan
O'Sullivan turned pro in 1992 and has won the world title three times

World number one Ronnie O'Sullivan has been fined £300 by World Snooker for prematurely conceding a frame at last season's UK Championship in Telford.

The mercurial 33-year-old flicked the white ball with his cue to concede the 12th frame of a second-round match with Joe Perry when he was just 23-0 behind.

O'Sullivan had been 5-3 ahead but collapsed from that point on and suffered a 9-5 defeat.

He accepted he had broken World Snooker rules and was told to pay £1,000 costs.
