Catalano has taken time off from her dad's ice cream firm
Dudley's Maria Catalano has her sights set on a first world title after two ranking victories so far this season.
The 26-year old cousin of Ronnie O'Sullivan heads to Cambridge this weekend for the World Championships as the fourth seed.
"It would be absolutely great if we could do the double, Ronnie and me. It couldn't get any better," Catalano told BBC Midlands Today.
"Winning the world title would mean so much to me."
Catalano has been granted time off from the family business to take part in the tournament, her father Antonio runs an ice cream firm in Dudley.
"Without my mum and dad I wouldn't be in this position. Dad loves me doing this. It's just unfortunate there's not a great amount of money for the ladies due to lack of sponsorship," Catalano said.
The poor financial rewards have seen the British Open champion turn her attentions to nine-ball pool in the United States.
"I don't love it as much as snooker but there's a lot of money over there for the ladies and you're recognised a lot more.
"Going over there as world champion would open a lot of doors for me."
