Ronnie O'Sullivan has turned down the chance to play in the Pot Black invitational on Saturday.
O'Sullivan is one of snooker's big draws
Twice world champion O'Sullivan has blamed personal reasons for his absence from the one-frame knockout tournament.
The event will be staged in Sheffield and holder Mark Williams will take on Graeme Dott in the quarter-finals.
The other matches will see Stephen Hendry play Neil Robertson, John Higgins face Ken Doherty and Peter Ebdon square up with Shaun Murphy.
Hendry said: "My first television appearance came many years ago in the junior version of Pot Black so it is an event that I've always had a close affinity for.
"I'm looking forward to taking part. The very nature of the tournament means that it's real shoot-out stuff and should be quite exciting."
Pot Black will be shown on BBC One and the BBC Sport website at 1300 BST.
