Davis targets UK Championship win
Steve Davis
Davis reached his 100th final in last year's event
Veteran Steve Davis hopes to go one better than last year at the 2006 UK Championship at the Barbican Centre.

The 49-year-old beat defending champion Stephen Maguire, Ken Doherty and Stephen Hendry before losing to Ding Junhui in the final.

"I underachieved against Ding," said Davis. "It would be wonderful to get a tailwind behind me and have another long run in the tournament."

The six-time world and UK champion has not won a ranking event for 11 years.

606 DEBATE: Can Steve Davis go one better than last year?

Ding is returning to defend his title and also competing at the event, which starts on 4 December, are Ronnie O'Sullivan, Hendry and John Higgins.
