Mark Selby, better known as a snooker player, is the new 8-ball pool world champion after a 11-7 win in the final over Darren Appleton in Blackpool.

The Leicester cueman, given a sponsor's invite into the event, won nine matches to take the £10,000 first prize.
"I rate Darren really highly so this is a great victory for me," he said. "But I had a massive fluke to go 7-5 up and that really changed the match."
Pontefract's Appleton is runner-up for the second time in three years.
"I really felt confident before the match and fancied winning," he said. "But perhaps I'm not destined to win the title."
It was also a day to remember for Sue Thompson and the Republic of Ireland's men's team.
