Allen beaten on return to action
Mark Allen added the world amateur crown to his European title
Mark Allen won the World Amateur title last weekend
Mark Allen suffered a defeat on Wednesday in his first competitive outing since winning the World Amateur Championship in Holland last weekend.

The Antrim youngster was beaten 4-2 by Indian Manan Chandra in the first round of the Professional Challenge Tour event in Prestatyn.

Chandra, beaten at the last 32 stage in the World Amateur Championships last week, stormed to a 3-0 lead.

Allen hit back with breaks of 119 and 70 but Chandra closed out the match.

The defeat is a blow to Allen's hopes of earning a place on the professional circuit next year.

No rest for world champion Allen
