Crowd favourite Jimmy White blew away the challenge of James Wattana, winning seven frames in a row to wrap up a 10-6 first-round victory.
White did not allow Wattana to win a frame on Wednesday
Starting 6-3 behind, White hit a break of 51 in the 10th frame to narrow the gap and never looked back.
He drew level with some battling snooker before breaks of 52 and 67 edged him into a two-frame lead.
The 15th and 16th frames turned into tactical battles, but White was not to be denied as he won both to go through.
"I've been trying hard , but I played so badly on Tuesday that I decided to just chill out and relax," said White.
"It was nice to finally get over the winning line but I felt a bit sorry for James - he's a great player but he's struggling at the moment.
"I won't beat Stephen Lee in the next round unless I improve a lot."
