Dott, a quiet Scot, is slowly earning a reputation in the world of snooker.

Having progressed into the world's top 16 he is looking to consolidate his position for another year.

However, it has proved an uphill struggle, with Dott progressing past the initial round in only two tournaments this year.

On both occasions, at the UK Championship and the European Open, his compatriot Stephen Hendry put a stop to his progress.

Last season he reached the final of the British Open in Newcastle, only to be beaten by another countryman, John Higgins.

Dott also made the last four of the Regal Welsh where he was beaten 5-3 by eventual champion Paul Hunter.

He made the second round of last year's World Championships after beating Finland's Robin Hull, before losing 13-2 to Higgins.

Higgins also accounted for Dott 12 months earlier in the first round.
