O'Sullivan ready to dominate
Ronnie O'Sullivan
Ronnie O'Sullivan leads John Higgins in the rankings
Ronnie O'Sullivan plans to dominate snooker for the next decade following his stunning victory in the UK Championship.

The 26-year-old is on course to claim the number one ranking at the end of the season, and he hopes to hang on to it for some time.

"Right now I'm looking at the bigger picture," he said. "I just want to win as many tournaments as I can and stay at the top of the game for the next 10 years."

O'Sullivan's victory in York has given him a commanding lead of more than 5,000 points over John Higgins in the world rankings.

The Englishman became the only the fifth player to win the world and UK crowns in the same year with his 10-1 thrashing of Ken Doherty.

But with five ranking events to go before the end of the season, O'Sullivan refuses to take the top ranking for granted.

"It would be fantastic to become world number one, but the most important thing for me now is to keep my feet on the ground," he said.

"There is still a long way to go in the season so any talk about the number one spot is premature.

"It's a fact that I'm currently top of the rankings so it's a possibility, but talk to me about it after the World Championship at Sheffield in May.

"I'm very, very proud to be ranked alongside the likes of Stephen Hendry and Steve Davis in winning the world and UK titles in the same year.

"When I've finished playing I will be able to sit down with the grandchildren and say 'what do you think about that?'"

Mark Williams remains third in the rankings, but Doherty has closed the gap considerably after reaching the final in York.
