Triple Olympic gold medallist Janica Kostelic produced a stirring second run to win the final World Cup women's slalom event of the season. The Croatian finished the first run in fifth place, but scorched down the course on her final run to triumph. Kostelic, who missed much of the season because of injury, led home the Swedish pair of Anja Paerson and Ylva Nowen. France's Laure Pequegnot claimed the World Cup slalom title by finishing fifth as her main rival Kristina Koznick was down in 13th. She became the first Frenchwoman to claim the title since Perrine Pelen in 1980. Kosnick, who trailed Pequenot by 54 points heading into the race, needed to finish in the top-three to have a chance of taking the title. The win was the Kostelic's first of the season and came after the leader after the first run, France's Christelle Pascal-Saioni produced a disappointing second run.
