Olympic silver medallist Annabel Vernon, from Cornwall, has been chosen to represent Great Britain at the World Cup in Banyoles, Spain in May.

Vernon, who is from Wadebridge, will start in the women's double sculls with Staffordshire's Anna Bebington.

Vernon told BBC Sport that "it's really exciting" to be teaming up with the 26-year-old again.

The pair previously rowed together in 2006, winning gold and silver medals in the World Cup series.

And with the benefit of a further three years experience behind them, Vernon is confident the pair can do even better this time around.

"Looking back at 2006 there were a lot of mistakes and a lot of things we did badly," she said.

"But we know what works now, we know what to do to win Olympic medals, so that we know our standard is good enough."

Vernon, 26, won a silver medal in the quadruple sculls at the Beijing Games and recently finished third in the singles at the GB trials.

Bebington also won a medal in Beijing, picking up bronze in the women's double scull.

The regatta is being held from 29-31 May and is the first of three World Cup events scheduled for 2009.
