Cracknell aims for Channel record
James Cracknell
Cracknell is a keen amateur surfer
Double Olympic champion James Cracknell will attempt to become the fastest man to paddle across the English Channel.

Cracknell, who won his second Olympic gold with the GB coxless four in Athens a year ago, will make the 21-mile journey on a 16-foot surfboard.

He aims to raise £60,000 for charity when he sets off from Folkestone for the French coast on 5 September.

The 32-year-old announced last November that he would take a one-year break from competitive rowing.
