Corey Neilson's side have now gone second in the Elite League table

Nottingham Panthers coach Corey Neilson has praised his side's great unity after their 3-0 victory over Newcastle.

In an ugly incident near the end of Tuesday night's game, Johan Molin was sent crashed into the boards by Newcastle's Dean Holland.

But Neilson told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We stay together. We saw one of their young guys hit Molin from behind.

"Our guys won't stand for that. Bruce Richardson stuck up for him. We stick together like a band of brothers."

The severely under-strength Vipers were without Chris McAllister, Rob Wilson, Ed Courtenay and David Longstaff.

Neilson opened the scoring with less than a second remaining in the first period.

Richardson then added a second on the powerplay in the third session and Kevin Bergin scored an empty net goal to secure the two points.
