Steve Thornton's Giants side lost at home to Coventry Blaze

Elite League leaders the Belfast Giants crashed to defeat to champions and fierce rivals Coventry Blaze at the Odyssey Arena on Friday night.

Bobby Robins put the Giants into the lead in the eighth minute.

But the Blaze hit back and goals from Danny Stewart, Dan Carlson and Sylvain Deschatelets (2) secured an emphatic victory for third-placed Coventry.

The Giants are also at home on Saturday night with Newcastle Vipers, sixth in the table, making the trip to Belfast.
