Edinburgh Capitals will be without netminder Michel Robinson for their opening Elite Ice Hockey League games after difficulties in obtaining a visa.
Canadian Robinson travelled to Ottawa to collect the document only to find it had not arrived from London.
Mark McGill will deputise for Robinson against Sheffield and Belfast.
"I am so disappointed that this has happened after a hectic but productive week," said head coach and director of hockey Doug Christiansen.
"Mark McGill has been training very hard throughout the summer and is looking forward to this opportunity to take the starting netminder role.
"I am excited for him and know that he is relishing the challenge."
Robinson is likely to be available for Edinburgh's next games against Nottingham and Sheffield.
